February in the Capital

Let is snow! Let it snow! This seemed to be the theme not just in Ottawa but throughout parts of Canada and the U.S. I'm sure we all watched a lot of news and weather on t.v. where scenes of 'how high the snow could get' were shown everywhere. It was almost like a competition or at the very least, a novelty, especially in places like Texas where it's not uncommon to wear flip flops year round. And while Ottawa enjoyed a 'snow day' from the real world on Wednesday, we didn't get nearly the snow the others did and really, according to many, calling it a snow day was overkill!

The good news is, according to a very reliable source aka Mr. Groundhog, we will have an early spring! Take all of this with a grain of salt as I'm not sure Mr. Groundhog was even able to burrow out of his hole to see if he could see his shadow:) But the idea of an early spring certainly is good news and makes for a great daydream!

February in the Capital definitely embraces the winter as Winterlude begins today! Three weekends of outdoor activities including snow and ice sculpture competitions, tubing down the hills of J Cartier park, skating on the world's longest skating rink (which is in great condition due to the snow and steady temperatures) and of course the yummy food huts sprinkled between all the other points of interest. Enjoy! Enjoy!

It is the first day of school today.
I am home alone.
Really, really home alone.
No husband (work)
No 16 year old (school).
No 10 year old(school).
No 7 year old Bernese Mountain Dog named Yukon(RIP).

I resigned from my position last week.
Gave my notice on my 1 year anniversary of working there.
It was a long, long haul.
Rewarding and frustrating at the same time.
There was a weight that turned out to be much heavier than I thought.
But to those around me, not.

It's a new beginning.
I started a new business (yes, another one).
I already have 2 clients and my site isn't even up yet.
A new 4 month old Bernese Mountain Dog, Dragon, will be here September 20th.
I'm ready to exercise my mind and body-yoga and workout here I come.
I'm cooking and baking again(kids love that).

I'm taking time for me.
Going back to being present.
Remembering to enjoy the process at least some of the time:)

But today, today is reserved for 'Ladies Who Lunch.'
Cocktails anyone??

Dragon - as in Puff the Magic Dragon 'cause shouldn't everyone believe in a little magic here and there....

Age: 14 weeks
Lineage: related to Yukon and coming from the same 'maker'
Newsflash: Coming SOON to a home near me!

Closely related to our beloved and never forgotten YUKON, Dragon is coming home to heal our hearts later in September.

Look at those eyes! It's all about the love, no?

August 26, 1994 12:04 a.m.

You were born on a dark and stormy night. Seriously, the rain, rain, rain came down, down, down and Mommy and Daddy really wondered if and when you were coming! After many, many hours and some touch and go times (gosh you were stubborn), you were finally born and it was an incredible moment. Since then you have given me many, many incredible moments.
I am proud of you and so excited to be along on your journey! Happy SWEET 16 Max! Dream your dreams and then, follow them!

I'm Back.....

I'm back. We'll honestly I've been physically back for a week but just trying to catch up. Also trying to fall in love with this blog thing....but I miss my REAL site (yeah, a bit out of date) but it doesn't allow me to add comments because I am using a jamble of things over there to even have it working. BUT I was just speaking with someone nice (rare to get a human voice and it be nice) at my web hosting company and they have some new and sparkly things that may work with my other site to make it more interactive so stay tuned!!!!
